What kind of file? Where type is it? What codec does it utilize? Where did it come up from? How did you go it into your calculator?

Exercise yous run into an audio track when you import information technology into Vegas? Does that audio track show a wave form? When you play to the meters go upwardly and downward? Practice you have the audio track muted? Do y'all have the preview volume turned up?

Practise you hear sound when you play other files or use other software?

This thread will help you to find out the information chienworks asked y'all for.

How-do-you-do, Cheers for taking your time helping me.
The File I am using is a movie prune (MPG).
When I play the File in my computer not using the Vegas Plan the video and the audio are perfect.
When I bring the file into the Proyect Media Window and I try to play the File to see it in The Preview Window just I see the Video and no audio, besides the meters practice non go upward and down.
When I drag the file from the Proyect window to the Timeline area using the right button of the mouse I discover that the area in the little window that opens and that says Audio Only is not Highlight, besides I noticed that thereis a _ under the vowel u , (of Audio).
Once more in accelerate, thanks for your help.

Hello, I been using this progran a calendar week agone.
At the begining When I placed a File (MPG) in the proyect media window and play to see in the preview window I could come across the video and here the sound.
As well when I placed in the timelime and played it I could see it in the preview window.
I do not know what I did wrong that I can not duplicated once more.
Cheers again for you assistance.
Ralph20.

If you would be so kind as to provide the video and audio codecs used to create the file, equally has been mentioned twice now, it would certainly exist a big help.

Nevertheless, one common cause of missing audio in

.mpg files that apply the MPEG-2 video codec and the AAC/AC3 audio codec

tin be quickly solved by renaming the file extension from .mpg to .vob

This was clearly pointed out in the thread I provided.

If this does not work for yous, delight download the free MediaInfo utility and kindly provide us with the necessary details, including the video and audio codecs used!!

Hi, I am not an expert in this matters, I am trying to understant your questions.
Outset I will tell yous that I placed differents files (MPG) many times in the Proyect window and in the Timeline window and I played them to see in the Preview window and they work perfect. The Files are from records made with a Sony Handycam Model DCR-CVD650. I recorded the Files in a retention card and and then I downloded into my Computer. I do not know how to get the codes of video and audio of those files. I know that I movement something in the Reckoner and and so this happens. I uninstalled the programme and so I installed information technology once more, just no sound when I utilise the Vegas Programme.

All I tin can suggest is that yous read the mail service I linked to a higher place, and try to provide as much information virtually your files as you tin can.

If my suggestions are non helpful, possibly someone else will exist able to help.

Thanks in advance.
These are the File properties:
.MPG
Type: MainConcept MPEG-2
Size: 61.73 MB (63,209,472 bytes)
Attributes: Archive
Streams
Video: 00:01:13,573, 29.970fps interlaced,720x480x32,MPEG-2
Acid Information
Acrid chunk; no
Stretch clamper; no
Stretch list; no

I hope that data helps, I tried to inverse the name .MPG for .vob only I could not do it. If you can tell me I will appreciate it.
I used that file many times when I started to use the Vegas program and many times I could see the video and hear the audio in the Preview Window.
Thanks again.Ralph20

Well, I'thousand glad we got this far.
The file data you lot gave has solved the mystery.
There is no sound runway in your video file.
That means it was rendered without audio.
To fix this, you volition need to re-return the files, and make sure the "Include Audio" box is checked. Y'all tin find directions for all the settings in the Vegas Help files.

Also, when you capture video from your camcorder, make sure that "Capture Audio" is checked.

Cheers for figuring out how to provide the necessary information.
I've updated the thread to include your situation.

In advance, thank you for the help.
Notwithstanding I exercise not undertand that there is no sound rails in the video file, because
when I play the file in the computer using the Windows Program that comes with the calculator I can run into the video and hear the audio, merely when I utilize the same file in the Vegas plan I can encounter the video but no sound in the Preview Window.
I volition like to undertand that, thank you for the assistance. Ralph20.

OK, then it is because the Media Properties in Vegas did not find the Audio Codec used, perhaps because it is not available in Vegas.

One more time:
ane) Downoad and install MediaInfo.
2)Report dorsum the total information MediaInfo reports for your files.

Also, you may upload a brusk sample of the files you are working with somewhere, then we tin take a look at them.

I'k still going on the possibility that your files may take AAC/AC-3 sound.

Did yous take DVD Architect installed on your computer at one fourth dimension? Did you uninstall it?

ralph20 wrote on 7/19/2009, 7:11 PM

Thanks once again.
Yep I Have DVD Architect installed on my figurer. I uninstalled Vegas 9 only, and so I installed again.
At the beginnig when I started using Vegas 9, I used the same files I been using. At the beginnig I could see the video and hear the audio in the Preview Window, now only I could come across the video.
Now, if I bring one of the files that I been using to the Timeline and and so I bring a file of music to the timeline, then using the play push in the Timeline I could come across the video of the get-go file and also I can hear the music of the second file in the Preview Window, just non the audio of the file that has the video, I hope you sympathise me.
Thanks, Ralph20

Thank you again.
Tin you tell me from where I tin download " MedialInfo ".
And after that what I accept to do with that information.
The files that I been using had been recorded in a Sony Handycam. I downloaded them from the memory card that I use in the Handycam.

Information technology'south->

MediaInfo

Copy that and paste it into Google.

You have to spell information technology correctly.

I can totally sypathise here!
I am totally new to Vegas 9.0, and not very clued up on CODECs etc (although I sympathise the principle).
The master issue every bit I see it, is that the handycam yous are using records in MPEG format (as does mine), but Vegas wont recognise MPEG files, which is frustrating the hell out of me (see the forepart pages of the Vegas manual).
I am too experiencing "video-no-audio" whenever I open up the files in Vegas, yet Windows media player plays the file perfectly. I tried the time-consuming arroyo of rendering the files in Windows Moving picture Maker, which converted the files to .wmv which allows the files to be opened in Vegas with both video and audio, but the quality of the picture was atrocious.
I am getting quite stressed out with this, as I am getting married next month, and really wanted to practice something special with the footage we are planning to shoot. I can't belive that Handycams and Vegas are not meant to piece of work well together, and so there must be a elementary explanation!!!

wam104 wrote on 7/21/2009, ii:31 AM

simply been trauling the depths of youtube... this kid has a actually expert caption of how to alter the mpeg files to vob files, i havent tried this notwithstanding simply will give it a become... fingers crossed!
hit this site;

let me know if you accept any luck!
Wayne

Really, that's a pretty good basic tutorial on changing Windows file extensions. I'll link it in my other thread.

ralph20 wrote on 7/21/2009, 5:08 PM

Hi.
I followed the instructions of the youtube video. I changed one of the files MPG for .vob , I was not ane of the luck ones. Now I can see that the files that I bring to the timeline does not accept the audio track similar the boyfriend shows in the video clip, in one track shows the video and in the second track shows the audio.
Thank you a lot, I am learnig about this Sony Vegas piddling past piddling, but I still tin can not go to the promise land. Ralph20.

wam104 wrote on 7/23/2009, 11:twenty AM

Well, I also tried irresolute to .vob with no luck- Vegas simply wont recognise renamed files with .vob. I take tried .mpg, .mpeg, .m1v, .avi, and many others, yet Vegas still will not recognise sound. My file info =

file type; mpeg-ii format
size; etc, etc,
video codec; mpeg-2
audio codec; dolby digital
number of audio channels; two

This trouble must be common, but I really am stumped at this point. I cannot encounter why a new Sony-brand digital camcorder can not work perfectly aslope Sony software...

ralph20 wrote on 7/23/2009, 5:44 PM

Hi.I will like to know how to use "MedialInfo" with a file, and what kind of information will provide me in order to perhaps fix the problem of no audio.
Thanks in accelerate.Ralph20.

Hi,
try up dating Movie Vegas 9 to Motion-picture show Vegas 9B via the Sony Web site.

wam104 wrote on 7/25/2009, i:29 PM

The issue for me has finally get apparant; Sony Vegas nine.0 does not back up Dolby Digital codecs when importing files that contain them. The Sony handycam I am using produces Dolby Digital audio codecs written into the MPEG-2 files, which I doubtable yours does too- I am told that upgrading to 9.0b rectifies this, merely to be honest I cannot justify paying out for updates and upgrades for an editing suite that should already have rectifes this problem. I am now using a Coral editor that was £x cheaper and is just every bit good at editing, with the added bonus that my moving picture clips have that little article called audio! I hope you have better luck than I have- Wayne

If you lot've already got Platinum 9.0, nine.0b is a Complimentary upgrade.
